Cass County Health System’s Senior Life Solutions team is hosting a free community walk in support of Mental Health Awareness Month on Saturday, May 22 from 9 to 10 a.m. in downtown Atlantic.
Mitchell County Regional Health Center’s Sheila Kobliska specializes in the mental health of older adults as the hospital’s Program Director for Senior Life Solutions. She says many of the warning signs a senior is having mental health issues also apply to people of all ages.
News 3 is digging deeper into Mental Health Awareness month, especially for those who are 65 and older. Senior Solutions is a group and individual therapy program at the Union County Hospital. Its therapist Casey Huff says many seniors experience depression and anxiety as they age and transition through life.
Pipestone County Medical Center Senior Life Solutions will host an open house from 10 am to 2 pm on May 18th.

Diabetes distress is defined as a person that feels frustrated, defeated, or overwhelmed by diabetes. It can also be associated with the burden of diabetes self-management. Jandi Loader, LPN from Senior Life Solutions, will be joining us on May 4th to discuss mental health resources available in our community.
“This past year forced many to accept tough situations that they had little to no control over,” said Robin Dennert, RN, Program Director of Senior Life Solutions in Trenton. “If you found that it impacted your mental health, you aren’t alone.”
This past year presented many different challenges and obstacles that tested everyone's strength and resiliency. The global pandemic forced people to cope with situations never before imagined and many struggled with mental health as a result.
Another resource is Senior Life Solutions offered through Cass County Health System. Olsen said the program is for older adults, “who particularly this last year have been isolated and probably are experiencing some loneliness and maybe a little anxiety getting back out and being out and about again.”
