Job Purpose
The Physician Services Director is responsible for all physician related activities across PMC’s service lines, including inpatient, - outpatient, and tele-health. They are directly responsible for physician talent acquisition, communications, and ongoing relations to ensuring that PMC’s policies are followed. The position is also responsible for contractual compliance with government regulations, including local cost of care and trend management, provider contracting implementation and local oversight of all types of payment innovation programs and provider relations and education.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • The Physician Services Director duties shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
  • Provide strong leadership, coaching, and management, as well as innovation, to develop and implement PMC’s physician services strategy.
  • Develop and implement a physician services process flow to positively influence relationship management and operational best practices with physicians and providers across all PMC’s service lines.
  • Develop, lead, and directly manage PMC’s physician services recruitment strategy and efforts to attract, acquire, and retain the top physician talent throughout the organization.
  • Effectively utilize metrics, data and reporting to drive and support strategic initiatives.
  • Measure business performance; identify / quantify drivers, risks and opportunities for business performance and define solutions to mitigate risks and leverage opportunities.
  • Use knowledge and thorough understanding of government regulations and requirements as they relate to physician relations to support the overall physician services strategy.
  • Bring together a variety of functions in a positive manner with a single-minded purpose that supports the company’s 3Cs of Care, Community, and Compliance.
  • Manage a cross-functional team focused on new and ongoing relationships and service delivery to Medical Directors and providers.
  • Consult on and prepare executive level presentations (both internal and external).
  • Consult with internal partners to design and implement programs to build and nurture positive relationships between PMC’s service lines, providers (physician, hospital, ancillary, etc.), and customers.
  • Establish, cultivate & maintain strong, collaborative working relationships with key internal & external constituencies; including PMC senior leadership, finance, HR, communications, clinical, service line partners, and others to advance PMC’s business initiatives.
  • Actively seek and engage in community activities, looking for those that align with the PMC’s interests.
  • Provide feedback to management on market trends as represented by our providers.
  • Effectively manage escalated issues; helps remove internal / external obstacles to meet customer expectations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

  • Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) required.
  • Master's degree in healthcare administration, business administration or a closely related field preferred.
  • Experience: at least 7 years of related work experience in healthcare. At least 5 years at the leadership level, and behavioral health, preferred.
  • Significant strategic experience working within a healthcare management services company, hospital setting, hospital system, or association preferred. Job Title Physician Services Director Reports To Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
  • Experience interacting with senior leadership responsible for directing strategic planning, business planning and/or other organizational development activities desired.
  • Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and management skills, as well as innovation to implement strategy and process flow, and to positively influence relationship management and operational best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively utilize metrics, data and reporting to drive and support strategic initiatives.
  • Knowledge and thorough understanding of government regulations and requirements as they relate to physician relations.
  • Demonstrated management skills that include making effective and efficient decisions and prudent judgment to achieve long-range and short-term goals – to include effective supervising and training of staff.
  • Knowledge of healthcare practice management systems, electronic medical records, and/or billing systems desirable.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow.

  • Working Conditions
    This job predominantly works from a personal home office but will require frequent travel.

    Physical Requirements
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This position required intermittent physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping and crouching as well as lifting (up to 50 lbs) and driving.

    Direct Reports
    This position will be responsible for the Physician Recruiter as well as any Credentialing staff.

    Reporting Structure
    The Physician Services Director position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), or their designee.
