Iverson C. Bell, Jr., MD, DFAPA
Attending Psychiatrist and Telepsychiatry Senior Trainer
Iverson Bell Jr., M.D., is an assistant professor and the Psychiatry Residency Training Director at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. He has been in practice for over 29 years and is involved in the treatment of patients at UT and several associated hospitals. Dr. Bell has also been practicing telepsychiatry and has been involved in developing the field since the 1980s.
Dr. Bell's interests include rural and international mental health outreach. He lectured to the psychiatric training program in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He developed and is now involved in a telepsychiatry and psychiatry training pilot project with trainees in Ethiopia.
Iverson Bell is a Morehouse College graduate and obtained his medical degree at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. He trained in psychiatry at the University of Illinois in Chicago, and child psychiatry at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. Dr. Bell has held several offices with the Black Psychiatrists of America, the American Telemedicine Association, and is a member of the American Psychiatric Association.
